MEET JACK STYLES, the one rapper you’d be crazy not to follow

If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past few months, you would definitely have heard of Jack Styles. If the name is new to you, here’s a taste of what you’ve been missing:

In an industry dominated by film music, where independent artists can’t catch a break, Jack Styles is one of the few who’s managed to do exactly just that. He’s a 19-year-old rapper/songwriter based in Chennai. Although he started at the age of 15, he got majorly involved in the game only last year. But get this — he’s already tracked for seven Indian films (Tamil and Kannada), which includes Ragava Lawrence’s Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva and Kannada Superstar Kiccha Sudeep’s Hebbuli, featuring Amala Paul.

But Styles has ambitions way beyond just solo fame. He’s the founder of the Rhythm And Prophecy movement, and is strongly working on the development of the Hip-hop scene in the city.

Rhythm and Prophecy consists of Akash Shravan, Lil’ Phil, Skyrid, D-Troy, MC Valluvar and Vijay TV famed Diploid Candies.

God definitely had a plan for me. Akash Shravan was the best gift I had ever received from the much spoken figure. The chemistry is 100%. The rhythm is perfect and we have the same amount of passion. I met the whole team at different occasions earlier this year and believed it was definitely time to revolutionize.

Lil’ Phil, is definitely one of the best I’ve ever seen in the city. The dude’s humble and highly educated when it comes to Hip-hop. We’ve been working on some majors at the moment and every time I get to work with him, I am given the opportunity to experiment only to equalise the caliber.

D-Troy is our Hulk. Kid with aggression and passion mixed together. I and Skyrid have known each other for years and dude could definitely design punchlines and set it up. MC Valluvar is an upcoming talent, a lyrical genius, soon to set the scene on fire.

Diploid Candies need no introduction. The kids truly represent the Hip-hop culture and also educate their students by spreading the true definition of Hip-hop.

When asked about the obstacles he’s had to overcome, Styles said, “As an individual, definitely the people I found myself with, in the recent years. Reminds me of the famous crab story. And as an artist, the mainstream industry. I had to turn down 2 major record label deals as we weren’t much convinced with how we got approached. I’m an artist that educates, not a product who sells out.”

He cites Kendrick Lamar, Tech N9ne, Eminem, Big L, Notorious B.I.G and MGK as his influences, but says he draws inspiration from every rapper he listens to, ranging from Cassidy to 2Pac.

About upcoming projects, Styles tells us that there definitely is a lot on the tables. They have an LP dropping soon, featuring producers from Pakistan, Malaysia, US, Germany, as well as a lot of big names, though he doesn’t want to spoil it for us here. They’re also in talks with a 3 time Grammy Award Nominee femcee who appreciates what Styles does, and have bigger surprises setting up to explode.

They’re also in talks to headline events from different states at the moment, and are definitely looking forward to set the stage on fire.

Gear up, Jack Styles fans. As he puts it: 2017 = Rhythm And Prophecy.
